PUTTING LEARNER CREATIVITY TO GOOD USE

Broken doors, leaking ceilings and painted walls are just a few of the repairs that will be made at eight winning Kimberley schools thanks to Cashbuild. The schools have each received Cashbuild building material vouchers to the value of R12 000 on 5 March 2015 at the Cashbuild Kimberley Store Opening Ceremony. Montshiwa, Lucretia and Endeavour Primary Schools are just three of the eight schools which have each received a R12 000 building material voucher.

Montshiwa Primary School’s Principal Mrs. R.M. Mogorosi said: “We are so overwhelmed by this opportunity which Cashbuild is giving us as a school. The fact that Cashbuild is giving back to the community makes us feel as if Cashbuild is part of our school family. We would like to fix our ceilings, classroom doors and paint our walls with our winnings.”

At the official Cashbuild Kimberley store opening ceremony on 5 March, when the building material vouchers totaling R96 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next five years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager’s Choice award was also presented to the overall winner, Refilwe Leinane from Montshiwa Primary School. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy.

The schools and children that benefited from the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart donations were:
