Ginja – new destination restaurant at the V&A Waterfront

From Monday 10 October, the new destination restaurant in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, Ginja opens to the public and will appeal equally to locals and visitors.  Situated on the Waterfront Pierhead, this chic new restaurant has an inviting and contemporary interior and offers fabulous food, a wonderful atmosphere and superb views across the Waterfront Harbour to panoramic sights of Table Mountain.  The restaurant is open every day with all-day dining; from 6h30 to 23h00.

The Menu

A comprehensive and well-priced menu that will appeal to everyone has been lovingly created by Executive Chef, Stefan Muller.  The menu includes salads, charcuterie, risottos, sandwiches, vegetarian options, wraps, pasta, seafood and grills plus an extensive list of dishes especially for children.  Indulge your taste buds with a slow-roasted lamb and barley salad, a prawn risotto, Asian style pork wrap, a range of health smoothies, raw juices, gourmet salads and sandwiches.  There’s something to satisfy all palates at Ginja.  Wholesome and banting-friendly options are offered as well as delectable side dishes including sweet potato fries, pumpkin and polenta fries and deep fried cauliflower. A food mecca for a huge range of cuisine styles, Ginja is the place where you can snack or dine out; where you can take the children; where you can meet friends for coffee and cake or enjoy sundowners with friends or colleagues.  Whatever you fancy, you can undoubtedly make a meal of your experience at this exciting and attractive new restaurant. Enjoy the buzz at this new hotspot at the Waterfront while taking in the iconic views of Cape Town right in front of you.

The coffee

Ginja adds a new dimension to coffee enjoyment with the launch of Native Coffee Roasters within the restaurant.  Created by Capetonian Murray Lloyd, who roasts his own carefully selected coffee beans, Native Coffee Roasters offers the quintessential experience in coffee appreciation.  Murray takes great care of his thoroughly trained baristas and endeavours to ensure quality and consistency in every cup. Apart from the 100% Arabica bean blending that gives ultimate true flavour, Native also carefully measures the coffee shots for every cup and then regularly weighs the finished product to help ensure customer satisfaction.  Murray believes that if one is passionate about coffee this will go a long way in helping to produce a fine cup. Native will serve coffee from 6h30 all day and every day at Ginja.  You can also purchase Native coffee beans for your home brewing. The coffee bar at Ginja will also serve a small artisanal take away food menu.

The décor

Interior Designer, Francois Du Plessis and architects, Peerutin, have created a fabulous new restaurant space for Ginja.  Using organic textures in wood, stone and textiles in muted natural colours, the décor is enhanced by accents of metal and clever, ambient lighting.  The palette is easy on the eye, welcoming and utterly contemporary.  A mix of long shared tables and smaller tables compliment the relaxed feel of this broadly appealing new restaurant.

The entertainment

Presented by Waterkloof Wines and for the second year running, SA’s iconic and hugely popular band, Watershed will perform on Sunday, 30 October 2016 at Ginja.  A very generous picnic lunch – that includes, for example, sundried tomato and basil tarts, Parma ham, gemsbok biltong pate, chocolate brownies, homemade fudge and much more will be served together with a glass of a Waterkloof wine.  Cost per person is R295 and booking is essential.

Ginja is situated on the Waterfront Pierhead, Noble Square at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
